Does it actually charge my tablet, or is it just a stand?
It's a real charger. The dock has a built-in 1-meter USB cable with a magnetic USB-C adapter that plugs into your reMarkable's port automatically when you set the tablet down. As long as the cable is connected to a power source, your reMarkable charges any time it's docked.
Can I transfer files between my reMarkable and my computer through the dock?
Yes. When you plug the dock's cable into a computer instead of a wall adapter, your reMarkable both charges and connects as a USB device. You can transfer PDFs onto the tablet, back up notebooks, or move handwritten notes to your computer — without unplugging anything from your tablet.
Do I need a wall adapter, or can I plug it into my computer?
Either works. The integrated cable terminates in a combined USB-A / USB-C connector, so you can plug it into a wall adapter, a USB hub, or directly into your computer. It does not include a wall adapter — you'll use the one you already own from your reMarkable or any other USB charger.
How does the magnetic connector work? Will it fall out?
The included magnetic adapter snaps into your reMarkable's USB-C port and stays there. When you place the tablet on the dock, the cable's magnetic head snaps to the adapter and starts charging instantly. The hold is firm enough to keep contact even when you're picking the tablet up one-handed, but releases cleanly the moment you lift it.
